2024 IDEA OF THE YEAR COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED
The ideasUK Idea of the Year Competition 2024 recognises the best ideas from our member organisations. We are always impressed by the range and scale of the ideas that are shared. We have shown time after time how innovation in the workplace can bring wide benefits to employees, customers and organisations.
The Idea of the Year competition provides a great opportunity for you to recognise the people who submitted those incredible ideas, and help boost employee engagement as it acknowledges their contribution to your business success. Even if you are not shortlisted or don’t quite win a trophy on the night, the fact of entering provides a mechanism to let your employees know you truly value their work, which can be a huge confidence boost.
For the first time in the history of the competition we were delighted to announce joint winners in 2023, both from the RAF
PROJECT APPIVATE
Project APPIVATE began as an Astra innovation project following the submission of the idea by a Squadron Leader (then Flight Lieutenant). He identified the need for an in-house software development team in the RAF, to address myriad needs from across the Service for applications to support operational output and human resources. Within two years of the proof of concept beginning, the team were delivering critical output for the RAF and this year saw the team become the first Astra Sprint to formally be brought into core business as part of RAF Digital.
PROJECT SPHINX
Operational planning has progressed significantly as Immersive Technology shapes the way forward, focusing primarily on Extended Reality (XR) technologies such as Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. Project SPHINX, gives a new three-dimensional domain of immersive technology, satellite imagery and other critical data which are overlaid on a real-time world like a digital twin.
