IDEA OF THE YEAR COMPETITION
The ideasUK Idea of the Year Competition recognises the best ideas from our member organisations. We are always impressed by the range and scale of the ideas that are shared. We have shown time after time how innovation in the workplace can bring wide benefits to employees, customers and organisations.
The Idea of the Year competition provides a great opportunity for you to recognise the people who submitted those incredible ideas, and help boost employee engagement as it acknowledges their contribution to your business success. Whilst this year’s finalists and winners are now celebrating their achievements, take this time to think about which of your ideas might make it into the 2025 competition!
IDEA OF THE YEAR 2024 WINNER – HOME OFFICE LESSONS LEARNED REPOSITORY
The Home Office faced challenges in sharing Lessons Learned beyond their immediate teams. A limited number of colleagues knew about the existing repository, which had restricted search features. To address this, a new central repository was developed, accessible to all Home Office staff. A representative working group provided input and feedback on the solution, defining essential requirements. The Knowledge Management team lead examined other departments’ practices and explored available technology to create a cost-effective solution. The result was to use the Microsoft List application and house on the central Knowledge and Information Management pages. It was launched in January 2024 and it captures and allows searching of lessons, with over 1000 lessons shared so far, which continues to evolve.
